Being a boss of a majorly successful cosmetic brand takes a certain amount of gusto to make it work. With that being said Doe Deere has always had a creative and ambitious spirit that would lead her into greatness. Stylist caught up with the successful entrepreneur to ask her some questions about how she does it all. Her answers are amazingly relatable, but strong and confident.
When asked if she ever made mistakes as an entrepreneur she said of course. Everyone makes them because it is just the nature of starting your own business. Doe says with her cosmetic brand Lime Crime she has made plenty of mistakes but tries to learn from them. That is the important part. If you can incorporate these mistakes as learning lessons that you can make you company even better and more successful. Especially when it comes to selling a product it is important to listen to your audience. This influences Lime Crime’s products because a lot of them are based on popular trends and what consumers really want. In line with the more environmentally and animal friendly crowd, and also Doe, every Lime Crime product is 100 percent cruelty-free and vegan. Fans can revel in the idea that applying their beautiful makeup each day does not come at the cost of any animal suffering. Doe Deere believes this wholeheartedly herself and is quite the animal lover too. She donates to animal causes like Bideawee, which is a no-kill animal shelter in New York City where she spent most of her early adulthood pursing a music career.
Ms. Deere is not only a great example of someone who follows their passion and turns it into a career, but a successful woman who is an entrepreneur and CEO. She is incredibly passionate about selling the dream to other women to pursue their passions in life. There is no better time. Doe encourages these up and coming business women to contact her on Doe’s social media pages to ask questions on becoming entrepreneurs. She wants to see others flourish like she did. PHAMExpo and Vegas Nay’s Stardust Tour are also a couple of events that the “unicorn queen” attends to mentor female entrepreneurs. Doe grew up from humble beginnings in Russia and now wants to show women that anyone can do it like she had.
On to the makeup and what is represents. When asked about why people love whimsical, glittery makeup Doe said it’s all about self-expression. It is the perfect time to express yourself without judgement. Unicorns are a symbol of whimsy, but also individuality. It is also the mascot for Lime Crime, which is very fitting. Lime Crime was born in 2008 and is the poster child brand for individuality and self-expression. This translates to wildly colorful bright and unusual makeup. It’s sparkly, bright, and a whole lot of fun to put on. One new Lime Crime product is inspired by Polly Pocket, that cute little toy that every girl from the 90’s loved.
