Timothy (Tim) Armour, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Capital Group, is known for being a highly successful Equity Portfolio Manager and at the same time leading the firm into a new direction. The Capital Group is one of the largest investment management firms in the world.

Since it was founded in 1931, it can also be considered as one of the oldest. The strong presence of the firm can be understood with the value of assets under its management, $1.39 trillion. Though it was founded in Los Angeles, it spread across the world with offices in all the major cities around the world.

Tim was taking up the role of Chairman and CEO of the firm in 2015 due to the sudden demise of the then-Chairman James Rothenberg. Since then, he is leading the firm with long-term strategies that can win the markets and customers alike. The increased presence across the world has helped him to formulate regional strategies to address the various challenges of the market demands. His integrity and commitment to providing the best experience to the customer or investor have helped him to set the direction for the firm as well. He is also strongly supporting active fund management and says that hard work would definitely pay off.

He asks the investors to look substantial benefits from the investments and says that there can’t have an average fund manager or average returns. He is a man of transparency and his views on how an investment firm should run its operations has helped the firm to earn the reputation among the investors and other investment management firms. With this concept, the firm started making regular communication with the media and encouraged openness in its operations. The move is appreciated by both institutional and retail investors.

During his period the firm made partnerships with similar investment firms to provide diverse products to investors across the border. With this goal in mind, Capital Group entered into a strategic partnership with Samsung Asset Management in Korea. “The plan is to co-design better investment solutions to contain savings, insurance-linked, and retirement needs of the Korean customers,” Tim Said.

Tim completed his graduation in Economics from Middlebury College before starting his career. He joined The Capital Group in 1983 through The Associates Program and became Equity Investment Analyst, where he covered U.S. service companies and telecommunication companies across the world. He has more than 33 years of experience in various investment and portfolio programs. He is based in Los Angeles.
